Merino sheep and wool production is the major focus of our business.  Our aim is to continually strive to improve the Cavan commercial flocks to be industry leading and as profitable as possible. We raise our sheep utilizing the most up to date technologies with a strong focus on animal welfare outcomes. We use our large commercial flock as the testing ground for our stud genetics to ensure they perform under real commercial conditions. Our flock sheep have always performed well in industry trials and are well sort after by processors and restockers alike.

On some of our properties we have the capacity to breed first cross lambs from some of our older merino ewes. We use poll dorset and white suffolk terminal sires to produce meat lambs which are quick to turn off, profitable and suit our pasture growth curve. These lambs are turned off in late spring early summer generally to repeat buyers who know they perform.

RWS and ZQ

Due to our high standards of ethical production especially in the areas of animal welfare and landscape management we have been able to gain accreditation for Responsible Wool Standards and ZQ certification programs.

ZQ is a premium brand we are proud to supply. It is owned by NZ merino and facilitated in Australia by AWN. Through our positive relationship with ZQ we have secured three-year contracts to supply a portion of our fleece wool at a significant premium to the market.

RWS enables us to also attract markets premiums when selling wool directly or through the auction system as the standards are uniform recognizable and sort after by consumers.
